September Shoot Report

Well, the 2008 Field Archery season is history, and what a season it was! Again, the weather Gods shined on us with almost perfect conditions. Eleven of the twelve qualifying guys showed up, some just under the wire, to take on the competition at the Joe Mooradian Classic, Championship Shoot.

And the new Club Champion is…Phil Alshouse! Phil truly earned the title by not only having the high handicap score, but also the high score of the day. Congratulations on a great job! As for the bucks… a total of $105 was bet, of which…

$21 to Phil, as the winner’s purse.

$42 to Karen Alshouse, for 1st in drawing.

$25 to Phil, for 2nd.

$17 to Gale, for 3rd.

Phil also took $8 in a shootout with Rich from last month’s tie. It certainly was his day!

This certainly has been a successful season thanks to the excellent participation by the membership!

Good luck to the hunters, but take some time out from hunting for Bo-Arro functions!

Is It A Good Idea?

If the anyone thinks it could be useful, I thought it might be a good idea to put aside some space in the newsletter for a “trading post” — space where members can try to buy, sell or trade something to other members. I know our membership is not large, but I wonder if some members would use space in the newsletter to buy and sell items. I would probably want to limit the listings to items used for archery or hunting.

BO-ARRO NEWS SEPTEMBER 2008

From the Editor...

This issue of The Bo-Arro News is the first one I’ve put together since I took the editor’s job away from Dan Fiala. Most likely, Dan is glad someone else has this job. I want him to know that all his contributions as the editor of The Bo-Arro News are appreciated, and I thank him for his assistance in getting me started.

As the new editor of this newsletter, I thought I’d make some adjustments to the layouts. In the banner that appears at the top of the front page, I used the artwork that was provided to me, but I altered the type for The Bo-Arro News. Now, I think the banner becomes more prominent and the result looks better. When organizing the reports and other items in the newsletter, I tried to make slight improvements in the layout of the text. I hope everyone likes the changes.

When putting together The Bo-Arro News, I can always use additional articles from other members. Please feel free to pass along any information that might be interesting for your fellow archers. This could include upcoming events, stories and photos from hunting trips, new hunting equipment that is available, etc.

On a personal note... Betsy and I are still new to the sport of field archery, and we are learning more about it. Hopefully, after some time, we will be able to participate more. The boys have kept up their pursuit of it, and we hope their shooting only gets better. To all the members who have given instruction and encouragement to Andrew, Trevor and Nathan... we appreciate it!
