* OCTOBER SHOOT REPORT: The first shoot of our 300 round season got off to a not too shabby start, considering hunting season has begun. Most everyone shot at single indoor targets that have 5,4,3,2,1 scoring, as we are out of new 5 spot targets and have a huge supply of the single targets...where they came from, beats me. If you got ‘em, smoke ‘em. If you start busting up your nocks…hang two single targets and split your arrows between them. It was suggested at the meeting that maybe our indoor
schedule should go to March. This
was probably a good idea and will be revisited at the November meeting. As this was the first shoot, handicap scores are not
shown, as they would be meaningless…however a handicap is included and could
be used at the next shoot. Results of the October shoot follows: ARCHER SCORE X’s Handicap Tom 222 * 62hcpScott

* * President’s message: The
October meeting started late because we got off to a slow start with the 300
round. In the future I will try
to get the meetings started on schedule.
That may mean curtailing shooting until the meeting is over, at which
time you can complete your round. A
copy of our Target Archery Shoot Rules is included with this newsletter.
Please look them over so that we can discuss and approve them (or
approve as noted) at the meeting. I’d
like to congratulate Gale on the thorough inventory of our supplies and
equipment. I am including a copy
of it in the newsletter. Please
give any updates to Gale. A
special thanks to Sam Koukios for the two deer and two antelope mounts he
donated to the club. We already
have them hanging in the clubhouse. Sam is moving and didn’t have room for
them. Sam, don’t forget to get
your new address to us! Hope to see you at
the next event!

* Editor’s
Note: In the last couple of newsletters I used words that I
didn’t know their derivation and only understood their meaning through
usage. Recently, while watching
TV, I found out the meaning of these acronyms…they do not appear in
dictionaries. A dollar prize to
the first one that guesses the word(s) and terms. P.S. I
hope I don’t have to use them in the future. * *

* TIDBITS Got a call from a guy wanting to know the location of our range. After giving him instructions he didn’t seem to recognize any of the locations…so I asked him where he was located. His answer was… Washington! A told him he was going to have a long drive because we’re located in Illinois. After a good laugh I asked him where he got the information. He said off the internet and said he saw we had an archery/golf shoot in November. After another good laugh I told him that we had that a couple of years ago. So much for information off the internet. Recently I drove past our old range in Spring Grove. The whole front is landscaped and has a bicycle path running the length of the front. In the middle is an entrance with a sales trailer. It appears that our old storage trailer is still on the side of the property. * *

BO-ARRO TARGET ARCHERY SHOOT RULES
(10/4/07) 1. The Target season will run from October
through March with the target championship being held in March. Only scores shot during
regular schedule shoots will count. 2. You must complete four shoots to be eligible
for a championship award. 3. You can make up one round during a regular
scheduled shoot day. 4. Awards will be based on handicap scores only. 5. Only 300 rounds shot during regular scheduled
shoots are used to establish your handicap. 6. Two shoots are required before you can have a
handicap. 7. Your handicap is based on the average of the
three highest scores out of the last seven. If you have competed in only five or
six shoots, your classification will be based on the two highest scores.
If only two to four shoots, then classification is based on the highest
score. 8. Your handicap equals your average score
subtracted from 300 times .8. Example: for scores of 255
and 265. Hcp= .8(300-260) = 32 9. An optional one-dollar fee can be placed to
enter the monthly overall high handicap shoot competition; winner takes all.
(Ties will go to shooter with high score w/o handicap 10. 1st and 2nd place
Championship awards will be given to handicap winner and runner-up. 13.
Certificates
will be awarded for attaining scoring levels over 290. 14.
Any
