Carp Shoot 12:00 PM
FoxCroft (Saturday) MAY SHOOT REPORT: The weather cooperated again in May, with shooting under blue skies, warm temperatures and calm air ‘til about eleven, when the wind picked up. Those arriving late morning did have an additional wind handicap. Turnout was not as good as last month, but still respectable for our size. And the big winner of the May shoot…and taking the big cash award ($8)…Dom O’Hara! Good job! Dom, I’m holding the handicap cash. Name

With so many sunny days I had trouble working on the newsletter and as a result it’s slightly behind schedule. This situation probably won’t improve as the days get warmer. I noticed in Illinois Outdoor News that there is an
archery range in DuPage County’s Blackwell Forest Preserve. I
wasn’t aware of one in that area. Located
in Warrenville, with an entrance on Butterfield road, just west of Winfield
road. It’s a no-cost range, open
to the public, dawn to dusk, year round. President’s
message: We have some good “special events" coming up, the next one being the carp shoot. If you missed last year’s, you missed a good one. I don’t know if anyone missed for lack of equipment, but it’s fairly easy to rig something up using stuff you have around the house. You can also use your regular arrows by making a barb out of stiff wire and attaching it under the point, along with the line. This worked well for me last year except I used to light of a line. Whatever you come up with you can test out at the range, just remove the barb. Don’t forget you need a fishing license, except for kids under 16. See
you at the shoot on the first and hopefully at the carp shoot on Saturday, June
14th. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Lauren
